Glenn was born on April 26th 1967 in Madrid, Spain where his father was stationed at the U.S. Military base "Torre De Ardos". His parents came back to the States when Glenn was about 18 months of age. Due to his size he was a notable basketball and football player during his High school time. He went to Quincy University on a basketball scholarship and graduated with teaching degrees at
the Truman University.
A knee injury he had suffered in college made it impossible for him to join the NFL's Chicago Bears. Not really content with his job as a substitue teacher, Glenn, a long time wrestling fan, decided to take the advantage of starting a career as pro wrestler. He began training in 1991 at the Dean Malenko school in Florida and soon started to wrestle for the WWC under the name of "Doomsday". In 1992 he joined the Smokey Mountain Wrestling as "Unibomb".
His size and his wrestling abilities caught the eye of WWF and Glenn had the opportunity to sign with the Federation. His first try out as the dentist Isaak Yankem D.D.S. failed completley although the angle involved Jerry Lawler and WWF's former superstar Bret Hart. After that, the WWF brought Glenn up as the fake Diesel, another "moron" gimmick which didn't give him the slightest chance to show his skills and get over with the audience.
The gimmick was dropped within a few weeks and after a period of inactivity Glenn started to train with the Undertaker for his role as "Kane" in 1997. The rest is history.
Glenn Jacobs is married and lives in Knoxville, Tennessee. He doesn't have children of his own but he and his wife have two stepdaughters. His wife runs a gym in Sevierville which Glenn bought last year. Perhaps he's thinking of starting his own wrestling school after leaving the active pro wrestling scene but that day is hopefully far away.
